Miss England 2007 Finalists
Miss Leeds - 06 Faye Elizabeth Tyreman

Achievements
My most recent achievement is being crowned Miss Leeds 2007. I feel extremely privileged to be chosen and hope to be a good role model and representative of the city in the Miss England competition. I took great pride in working for and achieving thirteen GCSEs A*-B. I am now studying for the final year of my A-Levels having already obtained A grades at Advanced Subsidiary Level in both English Literature and History along with B grades in Theatre Studies and Information Communication Technology. These subjects have taught me how to understand people and communicate with them in various ways. I passed my driving test in January this year which was an achievement for me because I feel that it was an important step into a position of responsibility and independence. In 2004 I competed in a local talent contest receiving a first place award for performing a group dance routine. The following year we took part again achieving third place. Then in 2005 I was honored to play the role of Electra in a performance of Starlight Express by Studio 3 Dance Workshop at the Harrogate Conference Centre. I have been involved in various choreography competitions where I have won a number of medals and trophies. Enjoying dance lessons from an early age I have achieved grade 6 in Ballet and Character and my first gold bar in Modern and Tap. My study of dance has progressed to include point work and the performance of Riverdance routines.

Talents
My dancing has taught me poise and elegance of movement and my participation in public performances through my dancing has equipped me well with the skills to cope under pressure and maintain stage presence. Being so used to dancing on stage my interests developed into other performance types such as acting. I have involved myself in the local players, performing in plays and pantomimes as well as in school productions. During Sixth-form I enjoyed helping to teach Shakespeare’s Macbeth to a Year 9 class. When I was younger I was keenly involved in athletics competing for my area in running, long jump and high jump at primary school. I continued to peruse sport at secondary school getting involved in gymnastics, cross country running and doing the local annual ‘Fun Run’ as well as playing football, netball and hockey for my school.

Ambitions
I love to write and have produced a number of short stories and poems over the last few years. It is my ambition to have some of my work published so that I may touch people and provoke thought through my writing. To this end I aim to attain a high level BA degree in English Literature at one of the universities to which I have been accepted. I hope to travel and see interesting places and people across the world which will influence my writing and help me to develop a further understanding of different cultures. This ambition has developed since my visit to Venice where I was in awe of the grandeur of the buildings and captured by the atmosphere. I would also like to study foreign languages in order to understand other cultures better and aid my travel.
